Work With Us: Development Office Internship (Summer 2012)

Bread for the City seeks a part-time Intern to work in our Fundraising/Development office for summer 2012.

The Development Intern will work with all members of the development staff, helping us plan/coordinate events (Holiday Helpings) and communicate with the community at large (blog posts, social media). The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, and can commit to working a minimum of 16 hours per week for at least 2.5 months.

Job Responsibilities

The Development Intern will be responsible for the following:

  • Support the planning and execution of major fundraising events
  • Represent BFC at community events
  • Capture client stories for blog, communication purposes
  • Cull/analyze data in Raiser’s Edge fundraising software
  • Compose and file acknowledgement letters
  • Assist with other projects as they arise

In addition to these duties, the Development Intern is encouraged to participate in other Bread for the City activities such as our rooftop garden projects, our digital divide initiatives, and our health and wellness programming. Development Intern is also encouraged to introduce new ideas for how our fundraising program could be further developed or expanded.

Qualifications:

This position requires strong written and oral communication skills, and an ability to work well with all types of people. Organizational skills and an attention to detail are a must, as well as the ability to work independently within the framework of a given project. Flexibility, optimism and a cooperative spirit in a sometimes hectic working environment are all very helpful characteristics. Graphic design and/or HTML experience a big plus. Above all, a Bread for the City Intern must have a commitment to social justice.

This position is unpaid.

Schedule:

Candidate is asked to make at least a 2.5 month commitment to work a minimum of sixteen hours weekly (days and hours are flexible). Availability on the occasional evening/weekend is also desired.
