Medical Clinic Enrollment Coordinator

Bread for the City is a private, non-profit organization that provides vulnerable residents of Washington, DC with comprehensive services including food, clothing, medical care, legal and social services in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.


Responsibilities: 

  • Assess and assist patients in the completion and filing of public benefits forms.
  • Maintain the clinic’s referral system.  This includes a relationship with referral health care organizations, scheduling patient visits, providing patients with the appropriate paperwork and information and obtaining results.
  • Provide information and referrals to appropriate programs to help patients achieve goals.
  • Advocate on behalf of patients in connection with local and federal government benefit programs, and other agencies providing services.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in public and private resources applicable to the low-income population that Bread for the City serves.
  • Work with the medical director in problem solving as issues arise, assist in new areas of program expansion as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; additional experience preferred
  • Commitment to working with the low-income residents of DC
  • Interest in community based healthcare
  • Excellent assessment skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with a wide variety of people
  • Strong time management skills, and the ability to juggle multiple projects and set priorities to meet deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to working for and with low income people
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus
