Due to an increased demand for volunteer opportunities from furloughed employees, we’re happy to report that we’ve got plenty of work to do around here! We’re keeping our doors open throughout the government shutdown, and we’re even extending our services to meet the growing needs of our community. We are opening up our food program to low and moderate income government employees in need of assistance, and we’re inviting you to help us meet the increased demand for our services!
- Join us at our Orchard Work Day on 10/22! It’s an opportunity for furloughed government employees to get down in the dirt and help us grow the fruits that stock our pantry shelves. We’ll be at the orchard from 10:30am until 2pm. RSVP by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org!
- Volunteer in our food pantry! Contact us to coordinate a time to help us sort fresh produce for families in need.
- Give to Bread for the City! Help us meet this increased demand by making a gift of $11 — a dollar for every day we’ve picked up the slack for our federal government.
We’re so grateful for all those furloughed employees who have turned this unfortunate situation into a positive experience by giving back to help DC’s families in need. Thank you all!
